Nisha Verma, MD, MPH, FACOG, is a board certified, fellowship trained obstetrician and gynecologist with a specialty training in Complex Family Planning. A Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha graduate of University of North Carolina College of Arts and Sciences and the UNC School of Medicine, Dr. Verma completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by her Complex Family Planning Fellowship at Emory University. She received her Master’s in Public Health degree as a Delta Omega Honorary Society member at Emory University. Dr. Verma served as Assistant Professor at Emory University School of Medicine.
Now, as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Emory, she continues to lead community-based research on the impacts of Georgia’s six-week abortion ban, to mentor trainees, and to provide clinical care in Georgia. Dr. Verma also provides clinical care in Massachusetts, and serves as an instructor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. In addition, Dr. Verma serves as the Senior Medical Director, Clinical Affairs at the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, where she spearheads efforts to create legislative, institutional, and policy environments that support implementation of evidence-based guidance.
Dr. Verma is passionate about the impact of policy on the ability to provide evidence-based health care, and is a leader in the media, public policy spaces, and education efforts on the impact of abortion bans. Dr. Verma also serves as a national spokesperson for reproductive health-related issues, including access to abortion care, and has testified before Congress multiple times on the harms of abortion restrictions.
